Service Projects

Since it began in 2015, our annual Good Friday Service Project provides an enduring, visible tribute to the faith and ideals which Lee Roy Smith strived to achieve in life and business. We believe in demonstrating through our actions the faith and ethics Mr. Smith founded Rio Grande Fence upon in 1958.

Our annual Good Friday Service Project allows us to serve others and use the measure of our talents to give back. Each year, RGF selects a Nashville (Davidson County) and a Knoxville (Knox County) non-profit with perimeter security needs and provides all materials and installation for a new, commercial-grade fence at no cost to the organization.

Selection Process

We accept nominations throughout the year. To be eligible, the non-profit must be in Nashville (Davidson County.) In February, we narrow down the field to a set of finalists. We then contact the finalists to conduct site visits and meet with the organization about the service project request. Typically, by early March, we announce the annual recipient of our Good Friday service project.
