Rio Grande Fence Co. of Nashville extended its AGC Build Tennessee Subcontractor Project of the Year winning streak to seven straight for its Old Dominion Freight Line project, and the Community Service Award for its Old School Farm Good Friday Service Project, at the 2020 AGC Build Tennessee Awards. "The 2020 AGC Subcontractor Project of the Year, an incredible seventh in a row, and Community Service Award, are exemplary demonstrations of both successful installations and sharing our best-in-class service with others," said Derek Smith, Chief Operating Officer, Rio Grande Fence Co. of Nashville.
The Old Dominion Freight Line installation, in Cartersville, Georgia, including 4,086 total linear feet of 8-foot-high chain-link fence, five aluminum cantilever gates, and one single swing gate, was completed in under four weeks, working through the challenges of weather delays, change orders, and even damaged materials from multiple subcontractors sharing space on the job site.
"Regardless of the size and scope of the project, your team has exemplified quality work and a willingness to get the job done," said Greg Estes, Construction Manager, D.F. Chase, Inc., in a post-installation communication. Going further, Estes noted Rio Grande employees "continue to show expertise, great attitudes, and commitment in all areas of our projects together, making our working relationships productive and enjoyable. It often seems more like a partnership than a contractual relationship."
The Old School Farm installation, RGF’s annual Good Friday Service Project in Nashville, Tennessee, donated 830 total linear feet of 10-foot-high commercial fence at the 1.7-acre micro-farm, which produces farm-to-table food while providing employment to individuals of all abilities. All 47 of RGF’s employees participated for a combined 316 man-hours. "We look forward to reclaiming nearly $20,000 in sellable produce every year, having our new fence," said Dustin Jacobson, Executive Director of Old School Farm. "The exceptional generosity of Rio Grande Fence Co. will help us continue our mission of growing and providing sustainable food and jobs at our farm."
