NASHVILLE, Tenn – February 24, 2021 – 88 percent of Rio Grande Fence Co. of Nashville’s 41 installation crew members earned OSHA 30 and OSHA 10 safety certifications during Nashville’s recent inclement weather, with the remainder to be certified by the end of February 2021.

“With job sites shut down throughout Middle Tennessee due to hazardous working conditions, RGF took advantage of the opportunity to upgrade our safety credentials to employee and customer benefit,” said Derek Smith, Chief Operating Officer. “On short notice, our Safety Manager, Justin Megibben, coordinated online training with the University of South Florida’s Corporate Training and Professional Education department. The results speak for themselves: now 11 of 12 Crew Leaders are OSHA 30 and 24 of 28 installation Crew Members are OSHA 10 safety certified. The only exceptions were one Crew Leader without online access and four installers awaiting a Spanish-language version of the course.”

Installation and operations employees were paid their regular wages for the time invested in their coursework.
